Prof. Laurel L. Schafer, Associate Editor of Organometallics, from Department of Chemistry, University of British Columbia, Canada, came for a visit on September 27st, 2018.

In the morning of September 27st, Prof. Schafer delivered a lecture entitled " Using N, O to get Yes. Catalytic Amination for Small Molecule and Polymer Synthesis ". Prof. Haiping Xia hosted the seminar.

Laurel Schafer completed her undergraduate at the University of Guelph and her PhD at the University of Victoria, both in Canada. Upon completion of her doctoral work, she joined the laboratories of Prof. T. Don Tilley at the University of California – Berkeley as an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow. She was named a Sloan Fellow in 2007, a Humboldt Fellow in 2009, and in 2011 and 2016 she was named a Canada Research Chair in Catalyst Development. Her group investigates the synthesis, structure, and reactivity of N,O-chelated complexes of early transition metals, specifically focused towards the catalytic synthesis of nitrogen-containing molecules. She is an Associate Editor for the ACS Journal, Organometallics and she has served on the editorial advisory boards of Chemical Society Reviews, Canadian Journal of Chemistry, and ACS Catalysis.
