Prof. Daniel Mindiola, Associate editors for Organometallics, from University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. and Margarita Paneque from Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Spain came for a visit on May 26st, 2018.
In the morning of May 26st, Prof. Daniel Mindiola delivered a lecture entitled "Titanium-Carbon Multiple Bonds and Their Roles in the Catalytic Dehydrogenation of Volatile Alkanes and Methane Olefination". Prof. Haiping Xia hosted the seminar.
Later, Prof. Margarita Paneque delivered a lecture entitled "Iridacyclopentadienes on the way to Iridabenzenes and Iridanaphthalenes". Prof. Haiping Xia hosted the seminar.
After the two lectures, teachers and students of our group took a photo with Prof. Daniel Mindiola and Prof. Margarita Paneque.
Daniel Mindiola was born in San Cristóbal, Venezuela, in 1974. In 1996, he received a B.S. degree in chemistry with honors from Michigan State University and then completed a Ph.D. in chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the guidance of Prof. C. C. Cummins (2000). Following a postdoctoral fellowship with Prof. G. L. Hillhouse at the University of Chicago, he then began his independent work in 2002 as an Assistant Professor at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Then he was promoted to Full Professor in 1994. His research interests focus on organometallic  chemistry and homogeneous catalysis.
Margarita Paneque obtained a Ph. D. degree from the University of Sevilla (1986, E. Carmona, M. L. Poveda) and carried out postdoctoral work with Prof. P. M. Maitlis in Sheffield. In 1989, she joined the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and currently works at the Institute for Chemical Research (Sevilla) as a Research Professor. Her research interests include different aspects of organometallic chemistry, as for instance the study of elemental processes for potential applications.
